Zojirushi NS-TGC10 rice cooker

With Zojirushi NS-TGC10, I can be a professional sushi chef within a day! Here’s my take on Zojirushi NS-TGC10 Micom 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer, Stainless Steel.

Introduction

Dan’s birthday is coming up in a two weeks. I wanted to throw him a simple dinner party and since he is very fond of Japanese food, especially Sushi, I decided a Sushi party will be perfect. However, this meant I should know how to make a sushi and be able to cook perfect sushi rice. I needed a kitchen rice cooker reliable enough to execute this task like a pro. Of course I went online to Amazon and searched for the best rice cooker and then I came across Zojirushi reviews.

My Zojirushi NS-TGC10 Smart Specifics

When I saw Zojirushi NS-TGC10 on Amazon, it was literally love at first sight. The high-tech aesthetic and new age design made me think “that belongs in my kitchen!”. Aside from how it looked, what really made me decide to purchase it was the Micom feature of this rice cooker. Micom, meaning Micro Computer Fuzzy logic technology. This feature means that this Zojirushi rice cooker can automatically adjust the heat temperature and time during cooking. Now that really amazed me! A rice cooker that thinks on its own! That sounds perfect! I decided to purchase it and give it a test. Based on the rice cooker reviews I’ve read, getting the 5-1/2 cup rice cooker is more flexible and practical, obviously, it can cater cooking for dinner parties like the one I am going to throw for Dan.

When I took it out of the box, measuring 14 by 10 by 8-1/2 inches, I’d say it was a great fit on my kitchen. One of the things that I really liked about it is the retractable power cord, which for me, personally, is another safety and convenient feature of any kitchen appliances. The LCD Control Panel is easy to read and the nifty timer and clock functions were a big plus. The melodies and beep warning signals are changeable which I think is pretty amusing.

My Smart Experience With Zojirushi NS-TGC10

To start the test, I took 4 cups of medium grain white rice and attempted to cook sushi rice (for the first time in my entire life, with only the online recipe guiding me). As a standard to all rice cookers, the Zojirushi NS-TGC10 came with a measuring cup, spatula and a spatula holder. I washed the rice, rinsed it and filled the cooker with water up to the scale of “3” which is the setting for cooking sushi rice. I placed the pan in the body, closed the lid and plugged in the power cord. Then I selected White/Sushi Rice on the menu and pressed the “cooking button” to start the process. The LCD screen automatically displayed the time needed, and in my case, it needed 45 minutes for the rice to cook. I stirred vinegar, salt and sugar aside while waiting for the rice to cook. While waiting, I had enough time to watch the news and go through some of my articles. I was so occupied with my articles, that the beautiful warning melody from the kitchen came as a surprise. I quickly came to my senses and realized that it must be the Zojirushi rice cooker. Five minutes passed before I decided to pull away from writing to check on my sushi rice. The rice cooker had automatically turned into Keep Warm mode. I lifted the lid and stirred the rice as directed – it was perfect! What I saw was fluffy, perfect white rice ready for sushi. I was very pleased and I took all of the rice and stirred the vinegar, salt and sugar mixture I’ve set aside earlier. It was amazing! I created the perfect sushi rice. I tasted it and it was as good as the rice at the Japanese restaurant downtown. I was very pleased with this Zojirushi rice cooker. It turned me into a professional sushi chef in an instant!

My Verdict

I am sure Dan will be surprised (and full of envy) of my new Zojirushi rice cooker and how I can make terrific sushi for him on his birthday. I will definitely impress a couple of people too and I can’t wait for that to happen. I am glad I choose Zojirushi rice cooker. My experience is enough to recommend  Zojirushi NS-TGC10 to all kitchen rookies. To create a perfect rice dish or sushi, you don’t need a sushi chef, you just need Zojirushi NS-TGC10 Micom 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer.
